California Commission on the Status of Women

Our mission is to achieve equity for all women in the workplace
through advocacy, education, and information.

We have attacked any practice that treats women differently from men, be it in education, in the workplace or in the doctor’s office. We have won many, many battles and progress has been made. However, if we are to hold the ground that women fought and sometimes died for, diligence is demanded, duty is required and determination must be our trademark.

We must never forget that we stand on the shoulders of giants; courageous women of vision and purpose. We cannot let die what they started 90 years ago. The working women of California need CFBPW. They need our heritage, they need our commitment and they need our passion for equal treatment under the law in every aspect of every woman’s life.
And we need them; we need more women to join us as we renew, rebuild, revitalize and become even more relevant.

We must all acknowledge and recognize that there are still battles raging. Attacks continue on our rights, our opportunities and in some cases on our very lives. However, California BPW is not alone; there are women all over the world whose battles are even more daunting and more dangerous than our own. We share in their sorrows, we support their fights, and we welcome them as sisters through our International Federation.
